Unpacking & Lifting

Receiving Inspection

When the machine arrives at your facility:

  1. Inspect the packaging for visible damage before accepting delivery.
  2. Note any damage on the delivery receipt and take photos.
  3. Unpack and inspect the machine within 7 days of receipt. Report any damage to HWAMDA and the shipping carrier immediately.
  4. Verify delivered items against the packing list:
    • Main machine unit
    • Controller cabinet (if separate)
    • Injection unit (if shipped separately on large machines)
    • Spare parts kit
    • Documentation package
    • Special tools

Lifting Preparations

Required Equipment

Machine SizeRecommended Lifting MethodMinimum Capacity
Small (≤ 1000 kN)Forklift or overhead crane≥ 2× machine weight
Medium (1000–5000 kN)Overhead crane with spreader bar≥ 2× machine weight
Large (> 5000 kN)Multiple cranes or heavy-lift trailerPer lifting plan

Lifting Points

Machine PartLifting Point Location
Complete machineLifting lugs on clamp end and injection end (see machine diagram)
Clamp unit (separate shipment)Dedicated lifting lugs on clamp frame
Injection unit (separate shipment)Dedicated lifting lugs on injection frame
Controller cabinetLift from base, never from top panel or doors
⚠️

Use only the designated lifting lugs. Never lift the machine by tie bars, hydraulic hoses, guard panels, or the injection barrel. Always consult the machine-specific lifting diagram in the technical drawing package.

Lifting Procedure

  1. Attach lifting slings to all designated lifting points.
  2. Use a spreader bar to keep slings vertical and avoid side loading.
  3. Lift slowly — take up slack, verify balance, then lift 100 mm off the ground.
  4. Check stability. The machine should hang level. Shift attachment points if necessary.
  5. Move to the installation site at low speed (≤ 0.3 m/s).
  6. Lower gently onto prepared mounting position.

Unpacking Procedure

  1. Remove outer packaging (crate, plastic wrap, straps) from the top and sides first.
  2. Remove inner protective covers and desiccant packs.
  3. Remove any shipping braces, blocks, or tie-down brackets.
  4. Keep the shipping skid or base under the machine until the machine is at the final position.
  5. Inspect for:
    • Corrosion or moisture damage
    • Loosened bolts or components
    • Damaged hoses or cables
    • Broken seals or sight glasses
    • Bent or broken sensors or switches

Forklift Method (Small Machines)

For machines ≤ 1000 kN, forklift installation may be acceptable:

  1. Verify forklift capacity ≥ 2× machine weight.
  2. Insert forks into designated fork pockets (marked on machine frame).
  3. Extend forks fully through both sides.
  4. Lift 50 mm, check balance, then proceed.
  5. If the machine is not level on the forks, stop and re-position.
⚠️

Never lift a machine with the injection unit or barrel supporting any of the load. The barrel is not designed for lifting.
