Lubrication System
Proper lubrication reduces friction, wear, and energy consumption. HWAMDA machines use a combination of automatic centralized lubrication and manual grease points.
Lubrication Points Overview
| Area | Lubrication Type | Lubricant | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toggle joints (brass bushings) | Centralized grease | Lithium complex EP grease NLGI #2 | Every cycle (auto) |
| Moving platen guide rails | Centralized oil / manual grease | Guide rail oil VG 220 or EP grease | Every cycle / weekly |
| Injection unit guide rails | Manual grease | EP grease NLGI #2 | Weekly |
| Screw drive gearbox | Oil bath | Gear oil VG 220 | Check monthly, change yearly |
| Ejector guide bushings | Manual grease / centralized | EP grease NLGI #2 | Weekly |
| Carriage slide rails | Manual grease | EP grease NLGI #2 | Weekly |
| Tie bar nut threads | Manual grease | Molybdenum disulfide grease | Yearly |
| PUMP motor bearings | Grease-packed (sealed) | — | Sealed, replace with motor overhaul |
Centralized Lubrication System
Operation Check
- The control system triggers the lubrication pump at preset intervals (typically every 50–100 cycles or every 30 minutes).
- During the lubrication cycle, observe that grease or oil exits all distribution points.
- A pressure switch detects blockages — investigate immediately if a “Lubrication Failure” alarm appears.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No grease at one point | Blocked distribution line | Disconnect line at point, cycle lubricator to clear block. Replace line if necessary. |
| Pressure switch alarm but no obvious blockage | Pump failure or low reservoir | Check pump operation, refill reservoir. |
| Grease leaking at joints | Over-lubrication | Reduce pump interval or duration. |
| Oil dripping onto floor from rails | Over-lubrication or wrong grease grade | Verify grease grade. Reduce volume. |
Lubricant Specifications
| Lubricant | Specification | Approved Brands |
|---|---|---|
| Toggle joint grease | Lithium complex EP NLGI #2 | Mobilith SHC 100, Shell Gadus S2 V100 2 |
| Guide rail grease | EP NLGI #2 with MoS₂ additive | Optimol Optitemp 2K, Kluberplett BEM 41-132 |
| Screw drive gearbox oil | Mineral gear oil ISO VG 220 | Mobilgear 600 XP 220, Shell Omala S2 G 220 |
| Central oil system oil | Slideway oil ISO VG 220 | Mobil Vactra 4, Shell Tonna S3 M 220 |
Mixing different grease types (e.g., lithium complex with calcium sulfonate) can cause incompatibility and loss of lubrication performance. Always purge old grease before switching types.
